Programs
Global Action to End Smoking funds research and programs that advance tobacco harm reduction and help adults who smoke quit or move down the continuum of risk. We fund both the science that builds the evidence and the education and services that bring it to the people who need it most.
Health and Science Research
Global Action funds research that advances the evidence base around smoking cessation and the continuum of risk. Our research grants include the science of tobacco harm reduction, human behavior, social science, and health economics. These complementary areas of research deepen the understanding of people who smoke and accelerate the end of the smoking epidemic through traditional and new methods.
Cessation Education:
Dissemination, Implementation & Training
Global Action funds work that connects adults who smoke to cessation and harm-reduction information and services, through two complementary approaches: public education and service delivery.
Our public-education grants fund the development and delivery of evidence-based information and resources that raise awareness of the benefits of cessation and harm reduction and help adults who smoke make informed decisions. Our service-delivery grants fund accessible services that help adults who smoke quit or switch to less harmful products, meeting people where they are on their journeys to quit.
Legacy Area: Agricultural Transformation
Global Action worked to diversify tobacco-dependent economies, ensuring that smallholder farmers impacted by the declining demand for tobacco are supported to find sustainable alternative livelihoods.
