How We Fund Grants

Global Action to End Smoking is committed to funding innovative research that focuses on scientific and educational gaps related to tobacco use and cessation, including the potential role of reduced risk products. Each awarded grant relates to at least one of the smoke-free purposes described in Global Action’s Certificate of Incorporation, Article Third. Global Action is particularly interested in projects investigating and addressing combustible tobacco use in marginalized communities and in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Grant Processes and Guidelines

Global Action’s research program is guided by experienced researchers and public health professionals. The process for screening, reviewing, and awarding grants is conducted in a transparent manner and includes explicit and clear guidelines for grant applications. The grant selection process is supported by independent peer review with no influence, involvement, or participation from the tobacco industry or any other industry or commercial entity.
