Global Action Supports the FDA’s Authorization of Six on! Nicotine Pouches as a Win for Public Health

Global Action is pleased to support the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recent authorization of six on! nicotine pouches, which will provide adults who smoke with options to help them quit or further reduce their risks. This decision complements our charitable mission, which is to end combustible tobacco use – the leading preventable cause of death globally.

Global Action believes that all youth must be protected from nicotine addiction and should not have access to either nicotine pouches or any other products that contain nicotine. We further believe that a robust, science-backed regulatory and enforcement system is critical to ensuring those who have never used nicotine do not begin, and that all adults who smoke receive access to evidence-based education regarding tools that can help them quit or reduce their risks.

We respect health authorities, including the FDA, which identified that generally, certain nicotine pouches can be a lower-risk alternative compared to cigarettes. Adults who smoke and switch entirely to reduced-risk nicotine products, including authorized nicotine pouches, can dramatically lower their long-term health risks. In fact, this evidence-based information was essential in the FDA’s authorization of on! nicotine pouches, as well as those previously authorized. We will continue to support providing adults who smoke with alternative methods of quitting. We respect that each person’s journey to stop smoking is unique.
