Global Action to End Smoking Welcomes Dr. Matt Walker as Program Officer

Nov. 24 2025, New York, NY —Global Action to End Smoking is pleased to announce that Matthew “Matt” Walker, DrPH, MPH, has joined its team as Program Officer, effective immediately.

Dr. Matt Walker joins Global Action after nearly 14 years at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, including several years with the Center for Tobacco Products.

In this role, Matt will manage intentional relationships with current and future grantees in collaboration with the grants management team. Matt is also well-positioned to play a significant role in GA’s thought leadership in the field of tobacco control and public health.

Prior to joining Global Action, Matt worked in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, including several years with the Center for Tobacco Products, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. He also has experience overseeing health outreach programs in Central America.

Matt holds a Doctorate in public health leadership from Georgia Southern University, and a Master’s degree in International Public Health from the University of Sydney. He is based in Damascus, Maryland.
