Our Mission

Our charitable mission is to end combustible tobacco use, which remains the leading preventable cause of death globally.

Who We Are

Global Action to End Smoking supports science-based global efforts to end the smoking epidemic through traditional and new methods. We focus on three main subject areas: Health and Science Research, Cessation Education, and Agricultural Transformation.

We collaborate with academic and research centers and others to accelerate life-saving research and educational projects. The organization does not seek or accept funding from companies that produce tobacco or non-medicinal nicotine products.

Our Work

Global Action to End Smoking supports comprehensive, science-based global efforts to end the smoking epidemic. Our funded work focuses on often overlooked communities and low- and middle-income countries.

Global Action to End Smoking takes a holistic approach to educating people who smoke about the various tools that can help them quit. Our programs correct misinformation about nicotine and disseminate the latest objective research about traditional cessation methods like nicotine replacement therapies as well as newer, reduced-risk nicotine tools.

We support all adults who smoke on their unique journeys to quit—no matter where they live or what identities they carry.

We are proud to fund grants that support all communities with elevated smoking rates. We want all adults who smoke to feel respected. We understand each person’s quit journey is as unique as they are, and their trust must be earned through empathy.

We are committed to continuously learning about the lived experiences of adults who smoke and welcome the insights of partners who share our commitment to global health.

We are committed to improving global health by supporting people who smoke, health care professionals, and others by providing information that advances their scientific understanding of cessation solutions.

Tobacco and Health Around the World

Committed to filling key knowledge gaps in our collective understanding of tobacco production and use, and its consequences, particularly in low-to middle-income countries where tobacco use often is high and capacity to conduct such research often is low.
