Cessation Education:
Dissemination, Implementation & Training
We are committed to ensuring that people who smoke and their health care providers have holistic evidence-informed information on all the ways to quit smoking. We fund innovative research and disseminate up-to-date guidance from leading health authorities to correct widespread misunderstanding in this complex area. The work we fund raises awareness of the many smoking cessation strategies and tools available to help people stop smoking and live healthier and longer lives.
Global Action supports and brings attention to research that focuses on bringing cessation information to a wide range of communities and health care professionals.
Examples of research topics of interest are:
- Characterizing the populations in need of, and seeking access to smoking cessation tools;
- Addressing misinformation regarding the nature and impact of nicotine;
- Building continuing education courses for health care providers on reduced risk tools;
- Creating awareness and educational campaigns for targeted populations;
- Supporting accurate and complete reporting by media; and
- Characterizing the state of access to reduced-risk nicotine tools globally.
We cannot support people trying to quit smoking unless we fully understand the challenges they face.
