Tobacco has created many health problems for Pakistan, the future of the combustible tobacco industry in the country’s struggling economy is uncertain. Tobacco Harm Reduction Products (HRPs) have created a niche for the non-combustible tobacco industry to take its place and become a growing part of Pakistan’s business model. Revenues on domestically produced tobacco and tobacco products are an essential part of Pakistani revenue and Pakistan does not want to eliminate tobacco as a cash crop or the tobacco production industry as an employer. HRPs may be the key to keeping the tobacco economy thriving while eliminating combustible tobacco products and the harm they inflict on human health.
